“— Bill Pogge, First Tennesse, Business Strategist. It was all possible because we took the time to have that Priorities discussion. ”
B.E.S.T. RM Bill Pogge met with a medical clinic in Brentwood, Tenn. to discuss financing for some E.M.R. equipment. In the process of going through the Priorities discussion with the business owner, Pogge realized that the clinic had some cash cycle issues that needed to be resolved.
Learn MoreAt the time of the discussion, the clinic was too quick in paying its vendors and not quite efficient enough in getting incoming payments collected.
Pogge was able to recommend some treasury tools that helped the clinic get a more complete understanding of their cash position so they could manage it more effectively.
He was also able to work with First Tennessee's underwriters to deliver a financing package that fit the clinic's needs and saved them money.
— Clay Hixson, First Tennessee, Relationship Manager“ I think the business owner appreciated that
I wanted to really try to understand his
business – not just sell him a product. ”
In preparing to meet with a masonry contractor to discuss a line of credit, B.E.S.T. RM Clay Hixson was able to study the business and develop a more thoughtful understanding of its needs prior to the discussion. The result was a more productive conversation that ultimately yielded some exciting opportunities in the owner's personal and business finances.
Learn MoreAccording to Hixson, his job "is simply to help structure the conversation around the priorities that are most important to the business owner."
As in each call conducted by our B.E.S.T. RMs, Hixson walked this particular business owner through the Priorities discussion and let him really talk about his challenges and goals.
Based on the information the business owner provided, Hixson was able to make some informed recommendations that the contractor had not even thought about. In fact, he was so pleased with the process, that he gave Hixson two years worth of his tax returns and financials and he says he wants to move his primary business relationship to First Tennessee.
